Supreme Court Decision - You Could Lose Your House!
I am so pissed about the recent Supreme Court decision about property ownership.
The Supreme Court ruled today, in one of its most closely watched property rights cases in years, that fostering economic development is an appropriate use of the government's power of eminent domain.
So basically if the gov't can show a valid economic need that will benefit the community the gov't can exercise the right of eminent domain and take your house.
Hmmm...how shitty!
I disagree with this decision.
Those voting with the majority (supporting the gov't right of eminent domain):
Justices John Paul Stephens, David H. Souter, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen G. Breyer, and Anthony M. Kennedy voted in the majority.
**** Notice many of the so called liberal justices...
Those voting with the minority (those siding with the individual homeowners):
Justices Rehnquist, O'Connor, Thomas, and Scalia.
**** Notice the so-called conservative justices...
I am disgusted with this 5-4 decision....oh well...
